A Man in Panties Causes $100,000 Worth of Damage

SAN ANTONIO — Arson investigators are seeking the public’s help to track down a cross-dressing arsonist who torched a vehicle outside of Northeast side business causing close to $100,000 in damages. While the man’s behavior is peculiar, investigators said, it’s not what he’s wearing that has them concerned, it’s his escalating criminal behavior they’re worried about.

“I would be very surprised to find out that this was the first time that this kind of behavior happened for this person, just because there’s so much of it,” said Capt. Christopher Casals, an arson investigator. The man was captured on surveillance cameras walking around the businesses located in the Northcross Shopping Center, located in the 2800 block of N.E. Loop 410, in the early morning hours of Nov.18th.
The man is wearing a coat over what appears to be a dark-colored, lingerie-type dress, trimmed in pink. He broke out the windows to several vehicles, busted the glass door to one of the businesses, then set fire to one of the vehicles, which spread to a second vehicle and caused damage to one of the store fronts.According to Casals, one of the businesses told investigators they had seen the same man on previous surveillance footage in the past. On more than one occasion, he had been filmed undressing, wearing women’s panties and fully nude. On at least one occasion, he was filmed masturbating on one of the business’ doors.”People do weird things and what motivates them we don’t know,” a Casals said. “There’s all types of different people. There’s all types of crimes and what somebody feels will make them whole if they feel they’ve been slighted somehow it just really is a wide, wide variety.”

The man was described as a white male in his mid 30s, standing roughly 6 feet tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. He was seen leaving the crime scene in a red Ford F150 single cab, long-bed truck. Anyone with information about the man’s identity are asked to call the Bexar County Crimestoppers at 210-224-STOP.Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
