Some members are having problems with Quoting so i thought it was about time I gave you a few guidelines. Also as pointed out quoted text is bandwidth wasted, as well as being annoying sometimes.

1/ When someone posts a new topic, there is no need to quote them. It's pretty obvious who you are replying to.
2/ There is no need to quote at all if the topic is still "On Topic"
3/ Quoting is really useful if a member says something which specifically interests you. You can edit the quoted text to include only that part or sentence.
4/ This is the biggest problem. If you edit quoted text never take out the closing brackets. [/quote] If you do this the post will read oh so confusing.
5/ When someone posts an image there is no need to quote the image again. simply remove the attachment Id.
6/ If someone makes a Large post and you feel the need to quote it, only quote the first part of it, the snapback will direct to the original post.

I can't think of anything else yet :D but I would appreciate your consideration. thanks

Excellent, good girl, but it's not just you L&L so don't feel your being picked on that was just an ideal example of what I was trying to convey ;)

Oh God you all gonna start and make me feel guilty now for mentioning it .......lmao but I don't want to reach a stage where I need to lock guests out (who are free to read) because the forums are running up too much.
In the past I have had to edit topics where the quotes would of taken up more bandwidth than the replies themselves.
I'm not a big fan of the quoting feature anyway, but the easiest way to reply is by always scrolling down to the bottom of the page and using Post Reply which will not quote anything.
Don't be afraid to use it, don't get me wrong, there is no problem if it's used sensibly, thats all ;)

I guess my practices with quoting tend to come from the old BBS days, where context quotes were almost always necessary to keep a thread making any real sense. (I still think this tends to be true at times . . . one is not always replying to the first post or even the last post in a thread -- that's mainly where I try to use quotes myself. But, please let me know if you think I've been overdoing it per your tastes. Never wish to be a bad guest.)

Thank You Carla ... I too could never punish you ... but sometimes I do deserve it ... what do they say "Spare the rod, ruin the child" ... spank me, spank me, spank me ... I don't want to be ruined ... LOL ... or was it "Spare the Rod, Spoil the child"? ... now that is something I might like ... go ahead spoil me ... PLEASE.

I am sure Aunty Anna will lets us know the correct saying ... She is our resident intellectual ... and I love her for taking on that duty ... can't be too much fun always being right and having to correct my dumb blonde mistakes .... Just Joking Anna ... but I do love your mind along with your sexy body and wonderful taste in "All Things Feminine".

Your Sissy Sister-n-Panties,
Michelle Jo

Ouch! Class pedant, eh? Rather be the class pendant.

I think it's the second, though I'm not going to look it up this time, just for that comment.

Whichever way is "correct" I hate the phrase -- though I do think I understand (at least a little) the appeal of the spanking as a voluntary, playtime thing. :yikes:

Ok I should of provided more info on this because I see many mistakes with this and other codes.

Quoting lets say someone has made a post and you want to address a reply to that person. there is no need to quote all of their post. Usually there is only a small sentence which prompts you into replying

So I am quoting this
[quote name='Jim' date='Sep 2 2007, 01:24 AM' post='31904']
Hey i'm bored silly, and no one is posting so while peeking around I sort of walked head first into this thread thought this is some good info. How to quote..?..
jim
[/quote]

But I am replying to the part which asks "How to quote"
So I remove all the text which is not required , but I do not remove the open brackets part [ and whats inbetween] or the close brackets part [/and whats inbetween]. This also applies to all BB code, you must always keep those open and closed brackets or the code wont parse.
So the edited quote looks like this

[quote name='Jim' date='Sep 2 2007, 01:24 AM' post='31904']
How to quote..?..
[/quote]

So when the post is added it looks like this

Hope that helps some anyway

Jeez Jim;

Even an amateur can get this right, I think?
