Mom took my sisters and I shopping for school chothes before I was in 9th grade. At Macy's I went to look in the boys dept while my sisters were trying on dresses. When I went looking for them I found them buying panties. I had been wearing panties for a few years. I saw a pair that I just had to try. I looked at the size Mom was getting for my younger sister before she sent me back to the boys dept.
Later while they were in the shoe dept I made my way back to the panty dept. and passing it by several times before getting up the nerve to go in and pick up the panties I had seen before and some others in a size larger than the ones for my younger sister. I went to the register with my 5 pairs of panties, the Lady looked at the size and said maybe I needed smaller ones for my sister, I told her that these would be fine. As she handed me my bag she said "I hope these fit you well, have fun."
I had to walk around the store a long time before going to find Mom and my sisters to be sure that my face was not still Red. When I got home I did had a real good time trying on my new panties, only one pair did not fit well but I still had lots of fun times with them.
The next time I bought panties was much easier.

Wonderful story ... the first time buying panties for ourselves can be a wonderful turning point in our lives ... and usually very memorable ... although I have bought many many panties for myself I still remember the very first time ... What a rush ... excitement, fear, embarrassment, and courage all mixed together ... thinking back it is a miracle I even pulled it off.

oh the thrill of buying your own panties and doing it for the first time, I can remember my first time as though it was yesterday the look on the assistants faces when they see you picking up the knickers and feeling the soft material. then they walk over to you and ask do you need any help oh I am just looking at the moment but tell me what size do you think I am, the sheer look of panic on there faces. I was once in a lingerie shop in london and there was a oldish lady serving well some where mid 40's I think she was and she smiled at me and said can I help you oh oh yes I am looking to but some knickers oh are they for your girlfriend my reply was know they are for me but I dont know my size with that she got out her tape measure and measured me I think you will need size 14/16 do you want them tight or loose and what style would you like, by this time I was lost what do I need she said tell you what wait until I shut the shop and then you can try some on to see what you like. well I must have tried on 30 pairs in all different styles and materials and she said to me if I was you I would wear the tight ones under your jeans and wear the loose ones when you are at home relaxing. I spent a small fortune in that shop and later on in the week I was back in the shop buying more items and when I came out I was wearing her knickers black satin hi leg they were and I spent about 6 weeks with her I wish it was for good she really understood me and my liking for wearing ladies lingerie. I still get excited now when I go and buy my knickers and all ladies lingerie, it sure breaks the ice with the shop assistants some of them look disgusted with you but others they just except it.

It is funny how the girls at the checkout treat us panty buying men.
I have had some who have been very helpful and kind but some who looked at me as if I had crawled out of the woodwork.
We are customers paying their salary afterall.

Exactly Mandy ... but like you said for some reason some of them don't seam to get it ... It is almost like they are afraid we will lose interest in them and they will lose their power over MEN. Sadly if they actually understood men or gurls like us they would know how much power lingerie and Feminine Women have over us, or me anyway.

Guess all we can hope is one of their GFs or sisters will enlighten them and they will finally understand they really have NOTHING to be afraid or upset about. Only time will tell.

I was very nervous the first time, I must have been about 21 I went to a shop out of my town and I'm sure that my face provided most of the heating in there. But that was twenty years ago and although it does get a lot easier with time and experience theres always a little flutter in my stomach. i agree with one member in another topic that ASDA is great for buying knickers and other underwear, the prices are good and the big stores have a good selection of knickers and tights. Also i find charity shops a great place to buy , I've bought loads of knicers bra's, girdles and swimsuits from these places and they are really cheap. obviously its pot luck what yu get but many have a good selection,as a lover of full briefs and hi-legs its great as I have foud some truly amazing knickers in these places.

It was only 5 yrs ago for me. Thats when I started using my wifes. I went to a local department store here in our little town and I thought I was going be all nevres all but I wasn't. The ladies all made me feel great about buying them. I bought ten pairs of all my size. I was a lot of fun!
