Yes, M&S stopped doing some old favourite styles

I think they have made the old mistake of the Dog with the Bone in the Aesop's Fable as too many businesses do these days. Briefly, the dog had a bone but looking in a pond it saw its reflection and what appeared to be a bigger bone. It lunged at this larger one and of course the real bone fell from its open jaws into the pond and was lost.
Marks and Spencer used to cater for the older woman, middle aged and elderly , the younger ladies in the mid teens to 40 or so bracket shopping for their type of styles elsewhere. Now if M&S had maintained that policy and slowly adapted to changes in fashion they would have been ok, but instead some fool of a Management Guru was hired and told them to change to attract the younger woman. Proven old styles both in undies and outer clothing were ditched but it simply didn't work. As their financial results and share prices have shown in recent years they have lost that war as the young women have not come in the door but have remained with their own retail outlets whilst the older faithful and dependable middle aged women have been let down by M&S and have had to go elsewhere. Hopefully theSenior Management of Marks and Sparks will have learned their lesson and will revert to supplying the older shopper and bring back these old favourites styles both in outer clothing and especially in knickers. I have to say that I do like their Style 5369 669 and 7057 038 Cotton/Elastiane Full Briefs and will be wearing a lime green pair today. I feel that M&S would do better to get rid of their off putting shop fronts with mock grey marble and green signage in favour of a more welcoming entrance and also dicch the green carrier bags for a warmer colour.
Debenhams/ House of Fraser are good , but I haven't bought knicks from John Lewis since they stopped selling Navy Blue, Bottle Green and other cotton interlock gym knickers such as the Montfort brand which is part of my Nom de Plume.
