A 21 year-old Thai computer engineer faces up to five years in prison for poaching used women's underwear and selling them through his Internet website, police said.
Sathaporn Singtham was caught red-handed stealing seven pairs of panties drying on a clothesline outside a woman's home in Nakhon Ratchasima, the kingdom's second largest city 260 kilometres northeast of Bangkok.
Police also found nearly 20 more pairs of well-worn underwear at Sathaporn's residence which he confessed he had prepared to mail to his clients, who were mainly in Bangkok, Lieutenant Colonel Wongsak Wongsami told AFP.
"We have had panty thiefs before but they had only committed the crimes for themselves. This is the first time such a case of stealing and then reselling the underwear has occured here in Korat," he said, using the common name for the city.
Sathaporn's business involved selling 10 pairs of used underwear for 5,000 baht ($191), Wongsak added
