A Barnsley man came out as a transvestite by posing in a dress with his bride on their wedding day.

Factory worker Dean Dudley, 35, said his vows in a suit so as not to take attention from bride Robyn Overton. But after the ceremony at Barnsley Town Hall, he slipped into an ankle-length gown for the reception.

Dean, who turns into Deanne to go clubbing with Robyn, said: “It was the first time I told my family. Their reaction was pretty good. They accepted it.”

The couple met in a night-club’s ladies toilet four years ago when dressed-up Dean lent Robyn a hairbrush.

Robyn, 28, from Chicago, said: “We got on really well. He’s the better-looking woman!” The couple’s dramatic big day was filmed for a documentary to be broadcast on Sky One.

I think it's wonderful what Dean did! To come out at his wedding was a very brave act! Wow! What a woman! Great story! I wish I could.....
