the first time i got caught i was 13 and i absentmindedly left my pyjama pants on the floor of the bathroom after having a shower- a pair of my stepmoms white nylon panties were sticking out of them. I was really, really careful and paranoid when in my teens. Maybe it was growing up Mormon and knowing how that would likely go over and all.
While I thought I was pretty upfront with my then fiance, (I mean, I was wearing silky slinky nightgowns to bed, or at least I was wearing them when we would arrive at the bed) it was only several years later that I "accidentally" allowed her to discover me in full lingerie -- truth was it was definitely no accident, except that I contemplated covering up several minutes before I knew she would be coming in the door.
When I started wearing androgynous clothes -- but all purchased from women's stores -- I really didn't get more than a handful of direct comments. I did and do go through periods where someone will first call me Ma'am before looking closer, or hearing my usual voice (which is one of the last things I really have to work on, short of hormones, to maintain a consistent appearance). I've more than a few times had people remark that they could not tell I wasn't female until they saw me from the front.
Since I haven't worn anything but panties for at least 10 years (with a very few exceptions), I suspect there have been those who noticed when I've been a houseguest someplace. But no one seems to feel it necessary to make direct remarks. In fact, I've often wondered if everyone else wouldn't be more comfortable if I just abandoned any male charade and went definitively full time without resort to androgyous "hedging." At least their suspicions would be confirmed and they could decide how to interact from there?
Anyone else with similar experiences?

I have never actually been caught but I do let others know if I feel there is a chance for acceptance ... I am not embarrassed about it and if asked I will freely admit it to anyone who ask ... but the wife has asked me not to disclose it to her family because she says she just knows they would never understand or accept and it would make things harder for her ... most of her family are red-neck bikers jerks who think they have all the answers and are always first to tell people what is right ... Not really my kind of people but I do love my wife so I will put up with them for the sake of family peace ...
I have let others know when I was at an adult theater ... and it was really a wonderful experience ... and when shopping I always say that I am shopping for myself ... I have found most sales people are OK with it as long as you don't cause a seen and your polite. You also have to allow them the ability to help you in their own way so they don't put their jobs or the store in an uncomfortable position ... but as long as your money is GREEN they always seam willing and even excited to help me .. but then I do tip them for their service so maybe that helps.
