Man guilty of transvestite killing

A MAN has been convicted of unlawfully killing a transvestite during sex.

The 47-year-old victim died after gay sex at Steven Boyd's home in Wallasey.

A Liverpool Crown Court jury took just an hour and a half to find Boyd guilty of the manslaughter of Warrington man David Currie.

Remanding him in custody until October 19 to enable pre-sentence and medical reports to be prepared Judge Gerald Clifton warned him that he faces a custodial sentence.

During the trial the court heard that the victim arrived at Boyd's home in Stanley Avenue in the early hours of March 29 this year.

He arrived just after 2am after Boyd's friends from Wallasey Rugby Club had left.

Just before 3.30 am Boyd texted a mutual friend to say Mr Currie, known as Angela, had passed out and was unwell but it was another half hour before he called for an ambulance.

Mr Currie had suffered serious internal injuries during their sex session which led to a fatal heart attack. Paramedics managed to resuscitate him but he died that afternoon in hospital.

Andrew Edis, QC, prosecuting, told the jury that the injuries had been caused by an unknown object and suggested Boyd used the half hour to get rid of the evidence.

Boyd denied unlawful killing, He admitted he had been drinking and taken cannabis and cocaine but denied using an object. He claimed that his dog, Tosh, a Great Dane Bull Mastiff cross, was to blame.

Boyd, who has a daughter, had had long term relationships with women but said he became interested in sex with transvestites about three years ago.

Transvestite killer jailed for five years

A MAN who unlawfully killed a transvestite who died after having sex with him has been jailed for five years.

Steven Boyd, 47, was found guilty by a Liverpool crown court jury of the manslaughter of David Currie.

Mr Currie, travelled from his home in Manchester in the early hours of March 29 dressed as a woman.

The court heard that an ambulance was called shortly before 4am and Mr Currie died in hospital several hours later.
