I am in the UK and have found in the last 6 months that less and less stores, shops etc are stocking silky panties. The all seem to to stocking cotton boxer style panties or lace and there is a severe lack of silk/satin.
Anyone else found this.

I only wear satin/silky panties and its annoying that it is getting harder and harder to find them. I just love pulling on a pair of silky panties. I have 100's of pairs.

I know it is always exciting to personally shop for panties. Here in the states there are a lot of small shops and large department stores to make it an exciting adventure. If you can't locate what you want there is always the internet. The fashion industry dictates the trend in panties and it is never satisfactory for me because they always have to come up with some outrageous design, which is too skimpy and grotesquely inadequate.

don't know if you have one near you, but I find BHS have quite a nice range of silkies. I've bought quite a few from there.
Now seamed stockings on the other hand...

I have found this happening both here in the UK and even more back in Australia. Sadly my favourite panties of all time; Target stretch satin full briefs. They use to have a diamond seam pattern on the front (like the VS SSS hi cuts do for all the US guys). The new ones are nice, but they're just not the same.
All is not lost for myself; I like microfiber as well and there's plenty of that around.

Seriouly write a snail mail letter. If relatively few people write to the stores and manufacturers they will provide them. the mentality is something like if 1 person writes a thousand others think like them. ( wouldn't mention that I am a man and getting them for my self. that might be selfdefeating

I have to agree, silky panties are definitely harder to find nowadays. BHS can be a good source, some times Debenhams, rarely H&M or La Sleeza. Completely baffling because silky/satin is so sexy compared to other fabrics, though each to their own.
I've never bought this way but if you search 'satin panties' on ebay.com (i.e. the US site) you will get loads of hits - many of whom will ship overseas.
I remember with much pleasure shops like Miss Selfridge, Top Shop, Chelsea Girl all being stuffed with satin bikinis - major, major shopping fun! But that is going back at least 10 years or even more - gulp.

I have talked about this many times, satin and silk bikini panties are almost obsolete in the states, it seems. My favorite used to be by Delicates and you could find them at JcPenneys. They haven't carried them for many months now. Very disappointting, they made the same ones for many years, and seems they were a very good seller. I know many women who wear them. Maybe they will come back instyle in the future. And if they do, I'll be waiting.

Here's a thought, but expensive. Check out www.sulis.co.uk - they make pure silk lingerie and that includes some very yummy panties. However, their presentation is dreadful. I bought a pair of pure silk French Knickers for my girlfriend (yes, honest, just this once it really is true! ) and at about 25 quid you'd think they would have been wrapped in tissue and put in a nice box, not stuffed in a plastic bag and mailed in a jiffy bag. However, a cool iron soon had them absolutely shimmering smooth. And guess who gets to wear them the most!

I've seen this and I don't understand it. Right now I'm wearing a nice silky Hanes Body Creations panty. These only came out a couple of years ago but recently they took the website for them down. I like mesh, lace and micofiber panties but satin is my favorite by far. Victoria's Secret still sell Second Skin Satin but not in the stores, but catalog only. Even at that, they don't sell the thong anymore. How could any panty be a more basic part of the collection that a stretch satin thong? I don't get it. Still if we keep buying them when we see them maybe that will help.

I also only wear silk or satin panties, and find it frustrating when shopping for panties to see beautiful fronts to panties only to find that the backs are thongs. I do love to have the feel of soft silk/satin full bum tangas on me. E-bay is the best place to shop for these type of panties.
What is life without panties?..........

FYI, Lane Bryant (store not catalog) is presently running a 5 for $20 special that (as of today, June 18) includes a lot of their satiny standards. Usually, their list prices are a lot higher than this (often from $12.50 to $16 each), but they frequently put select stock on sale, especially as the stock runs down for a given season and the sizes or color selections may get limited. Don't quote me, but I think this sale beats the prices offered on their just finished "semi-annual" sale. The only plus for the semi-annual lingerie sale was that you were getting roughly 40% off SRP on pretty much all of their panty styles. (And the stock levels were higher, so there was less chance of being dissappointed that the panty you wanted was on sale, but only in a dress size equivalent of a 14 (or a 28, but usually at LB the dregs tend to be in the smallest size ranges they offer.) Of course, all of this is of limited use to those of you who wear a 5 or 6 (S or M) standard (US) panty size. Dress size 14 is as low as they go, I think, and that equates to a standard Large, size 7, more or less. In general, if you order online, be aware that their cut is usually a little more generous for any given stated size. An 18-20, for instance, is easily equivalent to most WalMart 9s or even 10s. (My sense is that 14-16 should translate to about a 7 or maybe an 8 at most). Best in any case just to consult their sizing charts. Also, probably best to check them out in person first, to eyeball the goods and get a rough sense of whether you think they are likely to fit as you wish them to.
In any case, their Cacique brand (LB's house brand, the name was transferred from the shortlived VS sister stores that Intimate Brands had in malls everywhere about a dozen years back) continues to carry most of the classic cuts in various shiny, smooth satins -- and usually the same cuts offered in various cotton spandex versions too. Btw, Lane Bryant used to be affiliated with VS through parent co. the Limited, but LTD sold off LB and several other chains to Charming Shops several years back, so the only relationship with Vicky now is in names and past associations.
I haven't been in VS lately, but they used to also maintain a fairly standard line of satins that only varied a bit in the color selections from season to season. If they still do (and I seem to think I've seen them in the catalog) they are pretty much standard size equivalents of the Lane Bryant panties I've been blathering on about.

Is it possible that the perceived reduction in silkies isn't partly a matter of other, mostly novelty styles becoming available?
Sure, I guess these could crowd out some of the silky standards at retail, but I do wonder whether it's not just a passing trend. Then again, I know that Vickie's has reported that their biggest sellers at retail tend to be the more comfy, cotton/spandex blends in basic cuts. Something like 80% of total store sales, in fact, are those standards or at least have been for some time now.

I still find alot of nice silk at Speciality Lingerie Shops, Mostly full panties and hipsters but lots with lace and all kinds if colors. Very nice camis, slips and nightgowns. And the ladies in the shops will help you find what you want, and they know men will spend more on panties and lingerie than ladies. Well most ladies, they do love to see me heading to the door.

Seemed stockings, have a visit to Westgate. I bought some last week one size and they fit perfectly. The colours were limited, black or black. £4.50 They are very good quality too.
