LANCASTER, Ohio -- Authorities in central Ohio are trying to solve a panties puzzle: why hundreds of pairs of mostly women's underwear were dumped along the side of a road.

Fairfield County Deputy Gary Hummel said Thursday the undergarments were found in trees and on hillsides in several spots this week on a road in Berne Township, about 30 miles southeast of Columbus.

He says some of the panties were still folded the way they'd come in packaging, while others appeared to have been worn. There were nearly 1,700 pairs in all, in a mix of colors and patterns. Hummel says when collected, they filled 10 large trash bags.

He says investigators are "baffled" as to where the panties came from.

That is a terrible thing someone did by throwing all those panties out. I am sure that alot of the members here would love to have that collection to there selfs. Well at least that's my opinion I know I would sure love to go through the bags and pick out the ones I would like to have.

it sounds like someone may have had a really large collection and the wife got pissed at him or found the stash (not sure how he would have hid that many) and threw them all over to get back at him.

Have no idea where they could have came from. A giant purging? However they got there, it's horrible to know they're throwing them away.
I'm sure I'm not the only one here that would love going through 1700 panties for ourselves.

Couple of times I have found panties by the side of the road or on a footpath.I couldn't believe my luck.Once there was a Police Divvy (Divisional) van parked outside our local bakery.50 metres down the road.I saw this delectable pink and gold striped thong lying on the deck.Who was I to refuse?Coppers didn't notice.They were too busy noshing into their pies.XNadesha

I sure wish I could have found those!! It does seem to me that either it was a purge or someones stash got discovered and uncerimoniously dumped.

About a month ago,a local newscast said those panties were donated to someone who hung them across a bridge as a symbol for cervical cancer awareness. Here is a link to a CNN video. http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-636465

I don't think those were the panties from the original store, but donated by friends/relatives of cervical cancer patients.

Still it was a great video & cause. Did check out the sponsor website and after a few minutes saw a very cut pair of white v-kini panties, in the scrolling pix.

Haven't been to Cincinnati in awhile, but would like to go back for this event with my camera.

I tend to agree with the theory that someones wife got wind of the stash & dumped it !! I know it wasn't my wife, she buys me panties whenever she goes shopping & see something she thinks I'd like ! Good Girl
