Transvestite, 22 arrested at hotel

A TRANSVESTITE who dressed up like a girl "to attract attention" on Exhibition Avenue has been charged with violating public decency.

The Kuwaiti, 22, was arrested outside a hotel at 2.25am, the Lower Criminal Court heard.

He was wearing a skirt, black bra, sandals, full make-up and carrying a handbag, the court heard.

He was accompanied by a man "holding him by the waist", said a police report.

"He was dressed provocatively on May 19 and was acting in a way to draw the attention of passers-by in an immoral way," said the report.

He failed to show up in court and the case was adjourned until April 4.

The defendant had earlier been released on BD50 bail.

"We approached them, showed them our military identification card and later on found that this transvestite was a Kuwaiti national," said a CID vice-section statement.

"We brought him to the station where he was photographed dressed up like a woman with full make-up.
