A MAN today pleaded guilty to the murder of a transvestite prostitute who was stabbed near Sydney's busy Oxford Street nightclub strip two years ago.
Alen Imbrisak, 32, was to stand trial in the New South Wales Supreme Court today for the murder of Indonesian-born Lee Zainal, but instead entered a guilty plea.
Earlier this month Imbrisak pleaded guilty to another stabbing death, the manslaughter of 44-year-old Csaba Bognar, at Marrickville on December 17, 2003.
Imbrisak admitted to "excessive self-defence" in the stabbing of Mr Bognar after a fight broke out between them.
Justice Peter Hidden today adjourned the Zainal matter to Monday, when the prosecution is expected to present further details of the murder.
Mr Zainal, whose street name was China, was stabbed at least 10 times in the neck at Darlinghurst in the early hours of November 30, 2003.
The 46-year-old was found at the intersection of Crown and Stanley streets, not far from Oxford Street, and died soon after being taken to St Vincent's Hospital.
Mr Zainal, who was well known in the area, had been dressed in a dark zebra-striped top and short black skirt when he was killed.
Imbrisak was remanded in custody and will probably face sentencing submissions early next year.
