SAN DIEGO - The annual San Diego Gay Pride parade, the fifth largest of its kind in the nation for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, was held Saturday in Hillcrest.

An estimated 150,000 viewers lined the 1.5-mile route from the start at Normal Street and University Avenue to watch the lavishly decorated floats.

The theme this year is "One World, One Heart, One Pride.''

Gay rights advocate Cleve Jones is a grand marshal along with actress Cloris Leachman and human rights activist Stuart Milk. Transvestite entertainer known as The Lady Chablis -- she was central character in John Berendt's book ``Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'' -- is a celebrity grand marshal.

The Pride Festival Saturday and Sunday features more than 300 vendors, musicians and bands, cultural presentations and food at Marsten Point in Balboa Park. Entertainment headliners are rapper-actress Eve, Blake Lewis and Devo.
