Woodbury man in pink panties was a former teacher
The Woodbury man arrested Monday in Waterbury after police said he was found standing in the street wearing only pink panties was a teacher in Region 14 (Bethlehem and Woodbury), the school district confirmed today.
Jay Hubelbank, director of finance and operations in Region 14, confirmed this afternoon that Thomas Shea retired as a teacher in the district some years ago. Hubelbank is waiting for permission from the school district's lawyer before he releases any more information. Shea taught at Woodbury Middle School, and retired in 2009.
Shea, 61, who is married with no children, was seen by a woman and child Monday masturbating in the middle of Hamilton Park Road. When police asked him what he was doing, he replied, "I can't explain it. I'm just horny," according to court documents.
A judge released Shea on a promise to appear at his next court date on Aug. 3 and recommended he undergo treatment for alcohol. The judge also banned Shea from going back to the park.
