The Bandera Police Department is crediting a hidden camera sting for helping apprehend a 50-year-old man who officers say was leaving sexually graphic messages on the walls of the public restroom.
A few weeks ago city employees began noticing an increasing amount of graffiti inside the men's restroom on Main Street. What upset employees was the tone and topic of the messages, sexually graphic images were paired with messages describing sexual acts and a time and place.
Police decided to install a hidden camera in the public and open part of the men's room, aiming it as to capture whoever was writing on the walls.
In almost no time, officers began to spot the same person coming and going and writing on the walls.
Police identified the man in the hidden camera video as Michael Sergeant. Sergeant was arrested a short time later and charged with three counts of graffiti, all misdemeanors.
Bandera Police do not think Sergeant was targeting children in his posts.
