Tellers said the tall woman had “a bouncy walk,” curly long black hair, a stylish black cardigan sweater — and a gun when she walked into the Compass Bank Tuesday morning.

But she was actually a he, who successfully stole an undetermined amount of cash from a 41-year-old teller before speeding off in a white, late-model Nissan 300ZX.

Police said the cross-dressing gunman, described as skinny, pale-skinned and about 20 to 23 years old, walked into the 9550 San Jose Blvd. bank at 11:20 a.m. He was wearing sunglasses, black pants and black gloves with a small black purse completing the ensemble.

He pulled a gun from the purse, pointed it at the teller demanding money, saying “Don’t touch any buttons,” according to the police report. Saying, “I’m sorry for doing this,” the gunman was handed all the money in the teller’s till before fleeing to the Nissan, parked in a handicapped spot.

Other tellers who saw the incident said they knew the woman was a man, one hitting the alarm button as soon as she heard his deep voice. Police searched for the vehicle, but its licence plate came back to a stolen trailer.
