An Ohioville man who was spotted climbing through his neighbor’s window Tuesday night said he was trying to steal the woman’s panties, borough police reported.
Chad W. Dawson, 32, of 110 Dawson Drive was charged by police officer Nevin Beatty with attempted burglary, criminal trespass, and loitering and prowling as a result of the 8:45 p.m. incident.
Beatty said April West and David Caparuolo were returning to West’s apartment at 106 Dawson Drive when they saw a man entering West’s apartment through the front window. The man was startled, backed out of the window and ran off.
In Beatty’s police report, Caparuolo described the man as thin and about 6 feet tall and also reported what the man was wearing.
Beatty said he and Midland police Sgt. Robert Adams were able to follow boot prints in the snow from West’s apartment to the back door of Dawson’s residence. Dawson then admitted he was the man seen climbing out of West’s apartment window.
Dawson told Beatty he had initially gone to talk to West about her car and, when he learned West wasn’t home, went to one of the apartment windows. He leaned on it and the window opened, so he started to climb through.
According to the police report, Dawson said “he planned to take some panties from inside. Mr. Dawson then advised (Beatty) that he has a panty fetish.”
When he saw a car approaching, Dawson got scared and ran away, police said.
Dawson refused comment Wednesday. He was freed after posting $20,000 bond set by District Judge William Livingston.
