Some time back I expressed my concern over social network sites, for instance how you could tie them all in and import export your contacts etc. We know that once you delete your account the data still remains on their servers and you have to ask yourself why.
So is Spokeo the start of Big brother watching everyone using Social network sites. Anyone can go along to Spokeo and enter their email address and import all their contacts. Then they can find out who and what your contacts have been up too, and even though it says they only make available information that's in the public domain I am still very suspicious. Why for example are they targeting this service to the Law Enforcement agencies.

Quoted from their website.

Quote

74% of Americans have profiles on at least one of 43 social networks that Spokeo tracks.* Enhance your investigation with digital profiles, photos and videos.

Here's the catch when you sign up they shoot off emails to all your contacts, this explains why my inbox is full of invites from other aggregators with messages like I have just signed up too Bla bla come and join me bla bla bullshit. You even start to wonder if some of these smaller sites are operated by the CIA and MI5

Even the software this site Pantykin uses has the option for users to sign in with their Facebook and myspace accounts, fortunately I was wise enough to remove that option from day one because of my concerns with social networks.

So what can you do to protect yourself. Well you can start by checking all your email contacts I suppose, and you can also take a look at this page http://www.spokeo.com/public/learn and see what networks they use for spying on and decide whether it's worth the risk of using them because as time goes on you can bet our personal freedom and rights will be less than they are now, especially now as our leaders can do almost anything in the name of anti terrorism.

AND THIS IS THE BIGGEST NO NO, NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SIGN UP TO OUTFITS SUCH AS SPOKEO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Am I over reacting, maybe but in principle I have just closed my facebook account and I will be seriously looking at all my other network memberships and praying my family ones are not somehow connected to my private ones. :yikes:

Thanks PH.

These people are very naughty. (pack of sh**e they are )

You've saved my arse again.

I've had a good clear out of anything that may be tracked, altered mail adresses etc.

Going to have a little word with OH's computer and inadvertantly  block some of the stuff she is playing around with.

I've even gone so far as to obliterate any background on my album photos.

No way are these sort of people and their websites fu interfering with my fun.

Lets all be aware my panty friends, these sort of sites are a potential infringement of our rights and could be damaging.

Could we sticky your warning PH?

Once again, thank you great panty master. I feel safe in my panties with you around.

PK, all this is a way for paving the road to New World Order. I am glad to see that you are aware (not over reacting) of things possibly connecting CIA, MI5 and other watch groups. So many people are blind to it. They can see who your friends are and see what you all are doing and where you're at (by where you log in IP). Oh, and for God's sake.....dont get the "FREE" H1N1 vaccine our governments are trying to force on us. Tell me when a government or health care agency would offer you something for FREE??? I wonder whats in this "vaccine" that they want as many people as possible to have inside their body? Sorry to rant on this subject on our beloved panty site.
I love having my panty bottom filled ;)

so let me see if i have this straight, PH are you saying that being a member of certain socail networking sites that i have the possibility of beieng watched by "big brother"? is it safe to assume that every keystroke and mouse click is being logged and tracked by some unknown person or persons? i have always been a little bit on the cautious side when it comes to things such as this, i have been known to be a bit of a conspiracy freak at times, whether it be the government, the free masons, the illuminati, and so on and so on. Am i to be scared of the possibility of things that i say or do or post here becoming public knowledge for all to see? Should i be afraid that my facebook info is being watched, tagged followed for some unkown reason? i guess the way i look at it, is that as technology becomes the most powerful tool in the world, and as long as there are people out there willing to cause harm in the name of god, or whoever then there is going to have to be some level of so called "info spying" But i dont believe there is an army of pocket protector wearing tech geeks sitting around a room spying on the general public through the information superhighway. but i do believe they are watching, setting up programs that will and do flag specific things. i mean if my neighbor was secretly plotting some destructive action against the innocent in the name of whatever, or doing anything that could potentially cause harm to me or my family, then damn right look through his computer, find out who he is contacting or who might be contacting him. while i dont think it is right for these groups to watch and snoop without me knowing, but who are we kidding, it has been going on for years and years, its just gotten easier for them! now you have my brain spinning PH, i think i could go on for pages, but alas let them pry into my fairly boring existence, for they will find very little of interest, maybe even get a few laughs out of it, oh well.
Take into account that great love and great achievements take great risk.

 Hey we can only guess whats happening now with the advancement of technology. Yes there are triggers for certain terms that get logged in search engines, keystrokes and mouse clicks are not needed everything you do is logged by time and IP address. Information is the most valuable thing a company can have, who they sell it too, and what they do with it is anyone's guess. Google claim its for target advertising and we know corporations are completely honest don't we. You only need to try and digest the privacy statements of these people to know it really needs interpreting by a lawyer.
Google street maps are still an invasion of a persons privacy, so ok they have been forced to blank out peoples faces and registration plates on vehicles, but what happens to the unedited data? Do they save it, destroy it. Switzerland doesn't want anything to do with googles spy cameras.
Just recently Google launched Goggles a new picture search which uses images rather than words. By taking a picture of an object and clicking search, owners of smartphones can recognize landmarks etc.......but more worrying it would help cameraphone users identify strangers in the street!!
Luckily it was Blocked for now, but who knows later, and why after the privacy issues with street view would they even consider such a thing.
The UK wanted phone and internet companies to keep logs of internet usage, I don't know if that bill was ever passed ....but why? if that isn't an admission that the UK is becoming, or wanting to be Big Brother then I don't know what is

I'm no technical expert on these things but the more you consider it the more frightening it gets. Even like most of us here who have nothing to hide legally, what is happening when our freedom of expression thought, conscience and religion is being harvested.

I do not sign up for any of these sights but I am a member of flickr and do post pictures of myself in lingerie but only let people that have a profile that matches mine and show the same type of pictures see the. I love letting others see me in lingerie but want them to have the same fetish. I am starting to wonder if any of my pastwork related friends has seen me, I guess I will never know because I dont think they would say. I love sharing my photoes with others with the same interest but it is hard to know if they have a fake profile.
