As authorities nationwide warn motorists of the dangers of driving while texting, Florida Keys law enforcement officers add a new caution: Don't try to shave your privates, either.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a two-vehicle crash Tuesday at Mile Marker 21 on Cudjoe Key was caused by a 37-year-old woman driver who was shaving her bikini area while her ex-husband took the wheel from the passenger seat.

"She said she was meeting her boyfriend in Key West and wanted to be ready for the visit," Trooper Gary Dunick said. "If I wasn't there, I wouldn't have believed it. About 10 years ago I stopped a guy in the exact same spot ... who had three or four syringes sticking out of his arm. It was just surreal and I thought, 'Nothing will ever beat this.' Well, this takes it."

If that weren't enough, Megan Mariah Barnes was not supposed to be driving and her 1995 Ford Thunderbird was not supposed to be on the road.

The day before the wreck, Barnes was convicted in an Upper Keys court of DUI with a prior and driving with a suspended license, said Monroe County Assistant State Attorney Colleen Dunne. Barnes was ordered to impound her car, and her driver's license was revoked for five years, after which time she must have a Breathalyzer ignition interlock device on any vehicle she drives, Dunne said. Barnes also was sentenced to nine months' probation.

Barnes and Charles Judy were southbound in her Thunderbird at 11 a.m. when they slammed into the back of a 2006 Chevrolet pickup driven by David Schoff of Palm Bay. His passengers were a man and two women; the latter were treated for minor injuries at Lower Keys Medical Center, FHP spokesman Alex Annunziato said.

Schoff had slowed to about 5 mph to make a turn when the Thunderbird hit him, traveling about 45 mph, which was within the speed limit, Dunick said.

Barnes allegedly drove another half-mile, then switched seats with Judy, who allegedly claimed to be driving, Annunziato said.

"She jumps in the back seat and he moves over," Dunick said. "It was like the old comedy bit, 'Who's on first?' "

Burns on Judy's chest from the passenger-side airbag deploying belied their story, Dunick said. The airbag in the steering wheel did not deploy, he said.

Troopers charged Barnes with driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a wreck with injuries and driving with no insurance. Judy was not charged.

Barnes faces a maximum of a year in jail if found guilty of violating her probation due to the wreck, Dunne said.

"My phone has been ringing off the hook all day, and I know there's a funny side to this, but it's also deadly serious. This is a scary road and a lot of bad wrecks are caused by dumb stuff like this," Dunick said. "It is unbelievable. I'm really starting to believe this stuff only happens in the Keys

Major Retailers Caught Selling Used Underwear

NEW JERSEY - Tiffany Luxinger worked at three Victoria's Secret stores. Now she's exposing a shocking secret, "We would re-tag it and put it back on the sales floor."

And it gets worse.

She says, "If a product comes back as returned it obviously has an odor to it. We'll put it on a hanger. Hang it up to dry overnight, so the odor has time to come out of the product. We'll re-tag it the next day and put it back on the sales floor."

It's a shocking practice that may be more common than you think.

NBC took it's undercover cameras to an upscale mall in New Jersey - buying underwear, lingerie and bikinis at eight major retailers. They took the skimpy apparel home, removed all the tags and the protective strips to make it look like they had been worn. Then they marked each pair with two tiny black dots.

A week later, they went back to the store and tried to return everything - this time wearing hidden cameras.

Every store took their items back for full refunds. But at Bloomingdale's, Victoria's Secret, and The Gap, the clerk re-tags the returned underwear, then puts it back out for sale.

And time after time the telling black dots clearly mark the returned panties.

Amazingly, it's not illegal to sell used underwear. But an NBC microbiologist says used garments can harbor dangerous germs and diseases that can survive on fabric for weeks. He claims, "Fecal material would be the most concerning substances. You could have bacteria viruses, fungi. These are things that one person would be able to transfer to another inadvertently through the garment."

But that didn't stop most stores from rushing the items back on the rack. NBC never found its returned clothing at J. Crew, Saks or Express.

While all the stores said it's against their policy to re-sell used underwear, employees say it's not always the reality.
In fact, Tiffany says stained items even made it back on the sales floor. She offers, "Yes, the employees, they're in a rush. A lot of them don't care and they don't double check if it's used or not."

So the hidden camera investigation took it one step further. Before returning the underwear, they visibly stained several pairs with baby oil, expecting no one would take those back, right? Wrong.

At The Gap, Bloomingdale's, Victoria's Secret and Macy's, they not only took back the panties, they put them back out for sale.

In statements, the stores involved said, their "customers' safety and satisfaction are top concerns" and "their employees made a mistake is re-selling used merchandise."

Stores said the investigation prompted them to educate their workers about the policy. Tiffany says always wash your underwear before you wear them.

A group representing gays and lesbians in the conservative South American country of Guyana is demanding the government remove a colonial-era law that bans cross-dressing in public.

In an affidavit filed late on Monday, the Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination said the law is no longer relevant and violates people's rights.

"These laws are unconstitutional and discriminatory against a social minority," spokesman Joel Simpson said on Tuesday. "We are seeing a pattern of more and more abuses by police."

Police did not immediately return calls for comment.

The group will pursue the case in the Trinidad-based Caribbean Court of Justice if it is struck down in local courts, said Simpson, who is a cross-dresser.

The affidavit also complains about a local judge who told a group of cross-dressers last year to "go to church and give their lives to Christ" after they were detained for illegally wearing women's clothes in public, according to New York-based Human Rights Watch.

In a letter sent last year to President Bharrat Jagdeo, several international rights groups said the eight men were ordered to strip. Several were placed in solitary confinement.

The men were charged under an act that also prohibits beating a mat in public and selling cattle in the wrong part of town.

They were ordered to pay a fine of less than $US40 ($A45) each.

"It was one of the most humiliating experiences of my life," said Seon Clarke, 29, who was among them. "Life is tough for us because in Guyana because people think we are the scum of the earth."

While some islands in the Caribbean have laws against homosexuality, it is rare to find laws that condemn cross-dressing.

Crossdressing Shoplifters arrested after Police chase

Asheville, NC -- Police have charged three men in connection to a series of store robberies in Asheville. Officers arrested the suspects Friday morning after a chase and crash in Travelers Rest.
Police pulled over a car that was believed to be involved in a shoplifting incident at a Walmart. When the officer got out of the police vehicle, the suspect car rammed the cruiser and sped off according to the Asheville Police Department. The suspect car crashed on U.S. highway 25 near the intersection with Highway 414.
One suspect was found on the ground and two other people were trapped in the car. All three suspects were taken to a hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
Asheville Police say Alvin James Ray, Jr., 23, Tremain Allen Lucas, 19 , both of Asheville and Chester Dean Ray III, 18, of Arden were in the car.
All three have been suspected as cross-dressing as they committed shoplifting crimes in both Carolinas. Spartanburg Police released surveillance video of the suspects from T.J. Maxx at the Dorman Centre.
Asheville Police say the three stole TVs, computer equipment and video game systems from Best Buy and Target stores in Asheville over the past several months.
Alvin James Ray, Jr. has active warrants for one count of misdemeanor larceny, two counts of felony larceny, one count of simple assault and three counts of failure to appear for driving while license revoked.
Lucas is charged with three counts of misdemeanor larceny, two counts of failure to appear on charges of misdemeanor larceny and two counts of felony larceny.
Chester Ray III was out of jail on bond after surrendering to authorities in Buncombe County on February 1. He's charged with two counts of misdemeanor larceny and two counts of felony larceny.

THE Malaysian man on trial for murdering a transvestite aged 61 has spent much of his last two days on the stand denying allegations that they were lovers.

Astro Jakaria, 28, questioned by his lawyer, stressed that he treated the cross-dressing Abdul Khalid Othman as an elder sister, and had called him 'Kak Mie', meaning 'elder sister Mie'.

He also maintained that he was not interested in men, had several girlfriends in Malaysia and was also interested in his female supervisor at his workplace here.

Astro, who said it was the older man who made repeated passes at him, stands accused of strangling Mr Abdul Khalid in his Ang Mo Kio flat in June 2008.

After his arrest, Astro at first told police that two of his friends had suggested stealing Mr Abdul Khalid's jewelery, but later admitted to having tied up Mr Abdul Khalid up following a scuffle. He maintained the older man was still alive when he left the flat.

Mr Abdul Khalid, a cleaner just like him, paid for his food and clothes and even gave him money; when Astro lost his job, he took him in and shared his bed, where the sexual overtures were made.

BOCA RATON, FL -- A surveillance camera caught two thieves shoplifting thousands of dollars of women's underwear from a Victoria's Secret store.

The brazen suspects struck the store located in the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton around 3 p.m. on February 6.

The video shows two men entering the empty Victoria's Secret store together. They approach a table covered with underwear. Then one man picks all the underwear up and shoves them into a bag the other man is holding. The pair then walks out of the store.

The store's manager said the men stole about 130 pairs of women's panties worth more than two thousand dollars.

Police say two other stores at the same mall, Vitamin World and Pea in the Pod, were also targeted by two male suspects the same weekend. Officers don't know if those men are the same suspects who stole the underwear hours earlier.

Wauwatosa police arrested Robert Remiker for stealing panties from a drawer at an open house. Remiker was caught red-handed with eight panties contained in a plastic bag. Realtors and visitors at the open house alerted police after seeing the suspect rummage through underwear drawers.

Reports said Remiker, from Hales Corners in Milwaukee County, had been a permanent figure at open house sessions around the Milwaukee area, Wauwatosa, Greenfield, and Franklin. When asked why he stole the underwear, Remiker said he missed his ex-wife so much. He also admitted to having more than 50 stolen panties at his mother�s house, where he is currently residing. Remiker, who was arrested six years ago for peering into the window of a neighbor�s bathroom, was charged with three counts of misdemeanor theft.

Teenage Cross dresser fight off rapist

A 17-year-old cross-dressing man fought off an attempted rape after being dragged into the woods Sunday evening in Athens by another man, police say.

The attack unfolded about 6:30 p.m. when a man riding a bicycle started stalking the teen, who was walking in East Athens, police told the Athens Banner-Herald. The man caught up with the teen and dragged him into the woods.

The attacker started to take off the teen�s clothes, tearing his shirt and yanking off his boots; he realized when he stripped off the teen�s pants that the victim had a penis.

The victim fought back, but his attacker kicked him repeatedly, police said.

The man fled when the victim�s phone rang and he crawled from the woods and sat in the rain as police alerted by witnesses arrived at the scene.

The attacker will be charged with criminal attempted rape and false imprisonment if he�s found, police said.

�It doesn�t matter that (the victim) wasn�t a female,� Athens-Clarke Capt. Clarence Holeman said. �The suspect�s intent was to commit rape.�

Some time back I expressed my concern over social network sites, for instance how you could tie them all in and import export your contacts etc. We know that once you delete your account the data still remains on their servers and you have to ask yourself why.
So is Spokeo the start of Big brother watching everyone using Social network sites. Anyone can go along to Spokeo and enter their email address and import all their contacts. Then they can find out who and what your contacts have been up too, and even though it says they only make available information that's in the public domain I am still very suspicious. Why for example are they targeting this service to the Law Enforcement agencies.

Hutchinson Naked Panty Burglar Found Guilty

Reno County jurors took about two hours Thursday to deem a Hutchinson man guilty of entering his neighbor's apartment naked and stealing her underwear.

Carl Bengston Jr., 48, was found guilty of two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior and one count of theft.

He reportedly entered the 23-year-old woman's apartment in January and April 2009 while he was naked. During the trial this week, the woman took the stand and identified Bengston as the naked man who was in her apartment in April.

Testifying in his own defense Wednesday, Bengston admitted he was found naked in the woman's apartment in April, but he couldn't remember much because he had taken cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana beforehand.

He claimed he felt intimidated by officers when he was arrested in April, so he told them "what they wanted to hear."

Bengston denied stealing the woman's underwear, although officers reported finding it in his possession before he was booked into the Reno County jail.

In January, a friend of the woman was sleeping in her apartment when he awoke to see a naked man run out the door. Bengston was not identified in the January incident, and both the woman and her friend could not recall hearing noise from the stairs to the second-story apartments after the naked man left.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Stephen Maxwell argued it had to have been Bengston who fled to his apartment across the hall.

During the trial, jurors visited the second-story apartments and saw the stairwell described by Hutchinson police officers as old, noisy and rickety.

Bengston's criminal history includes five previous convictions of lewd and lascivious behavior, which District Judge Richard Rome allowed Maxwell to inform the jury of this week.

Bengston is scheduled for sentencing Feb. 5.

The Kahala Panty Burglar arrested again

PEARL CITY (KHNL) - The man who was called the Kahala Panty Burglar during the 1980s is in hot water again. Honolulu police have arrested Harrison Mew on suspicion of first-degree sexual assault.

Ronnie Jaralba is flying solo at a car repair shop in Pearl City. He's alone because his boss, 54-year-old Harrison Mew, was taken into police custody Wednesday.

"I was surprised. I don't know what to say," Jaralba said. "Then I asked the police officer, 'Oh, what happened?' 'Oh, we have some kind of complaint about your boss.'"

A 19-year-old woman told investigators the suspect sexually assaulted her in the office March 13th. Jaralba says he was at the shop.

"All I heard is making noise upstairs," he said. "Then I asked her, 'What happened? Did anything happen that night?' She said, 'No.'"

Armed with a warrant, officers stormed the business and recovered evidence.

"They searched my boss car. They took everything in the back of the trunk," Jaralba said. "They searched everything, just like one typhoon or tornado inside, even the office."

This isn't the first time police have executed a search warrant at the business. Eight years ago, officers stormed the shop after another 19-year-old woman accused Mew of sexually assaulting her.

And in the early 80s, Mew was dubbed the Kahala Panty Burglar. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison for breaking into homes, and stealing women's underwear.

For now, Jaralba has no choice but to get to work.

"I have to handle it myself, yeah," he said. "All the phone call, all the cars come in, I don't know what to do. But I just trying my best."

Police are also looking into whether Mew failed to update his sex offender registry information.

He is locked up at H.P.D.'s main cellblock. He has not been charged.

WHARTON, TX - The Texas City office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man who fooled no one as he donned women's clothing to rob the Texas Gulf Credit Union, 2015 North Fulton Street in Wharton, Texas, Wednesday.

At approximately 1:45 p.m., what appeared to be a tall black woman entered the bank, pointed a snub-nosed revolver at a teller, and demanded cash. Witnesses described the robber as actually being a black man with dark complexion, 6'0" to 6'1" tall, 180-190 pounds, mid twenties, with a deep voice, large hands and large feet. He was wearing a black wig with blonde highlights, a dark sweater, short pants, athletic shoes, and press on French manicured fingernails.

The robber fled with the cash, and a small silver sedan was seen leaving the bank shortly after the robbery. It has not been positively determined if that vehicle is connected to the crime.

A man who dressed as a woman to rob a Tarpon Springs bank last month was arrested today in Corpus Christi, Texas, police said.

U.S. Marshal Service special agents arrested Dorian Deon White, 32, at a homeless shelter where he was staying under an alias.

Police say White robbed the Bank of America, 2551 Tarpon Woods Blvd., on Nov. 6.

Pinellas County sheriff's detectives say White was dressed as a woman in a purple dress with black tights, a black wig and makeup, when he walked into the bank and implied he had a gun. He was given an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt.

The suspect then fled the bank on foot to a nearby neighborhood, where he forced someone to drive him to Philippe Park in Safety Harbor. The person was released unharmed, and the suspect was last seen in the park on foot.

White was arrested on three warrants for bank robbery, kidnapping and burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Panty thief breaks into home, falls asleep

SALT LAKE CITY - Police are looking for a repeat burglar who targets college women and steals their underwear. Police said in the past six months they have had four cases of a suspect breaking into apartments and stealing women's bras and panties. The most recent of the alleged crimes was Sunday morning in Sugar House. Police say the suspect broke into a apartment of four female college roommates and rifled through one of their underwear drawers. One of the women said that the suspect had actually fallen asleep and she woke up to the sound of his breathing. When she got out of bed, she tripped over him and the suspect ran off with one of her bras.

Rebecca Muehle says her roommate "got up to turn the light on and tripped over him, and screamed at him to get out." The suspect said he had gotten lost.

"It's really scary," says Muehle. "It's a wake up call to know someone had to be watching us, scoping us out, which is a really scary thought. What if he had decided to do something more that night?"

"There is a pattern over the last six months so were asking people to be aware this is going on, not to scare people just be aware," said Salt Lake Police Department Detective Pat Wilkinson.

Police want neighbors to lock their doors and report anyone suspicious. The thief is striking on the east side of Salt Lake City near the University of Utah. He's described as white, in his 30's and six feet three inches tall.

LA women allowed fake photographer to take panty measurements

LOS ANGELES -- A 22-year-old man who police say posed as a magazine photographer and sexually assaulted four women turned himself in to police Thursday.

Keith Nichols was booked at the Los Angeles Police Department's Central division on suspicion of sexual battery, according to police.

"Keith Nichols is not a photographer," said Captain Blake Chow, commanding officer of Central Police Station.

"All young women, especially those riding local trains, need to know Nichols is a fraud and potentially dangerous."

Since early October, four women have reported meeting Nichols, who claimed he was a photographer for "Vibe" magazine, and submitting to a personal examination by him to "measure" their most intimate body parts for "custom-fitted underwear."

Police say Nichols told each woman that if their measurements were good enough, they could get a modeling job for Vibe Magazine. The measuring sessions often occurred spontaneously in secluded, public places, where Nichols used a measuring tape as a prop.

While none of the woman recalled him taking photographs, Nichols did touch the women's bare breasts and groins with his hands.

"These crimes amount only to a misdemeanor at this point," Chow added, "but the potential for a more serious crime is there. We don't know how many women Nichols has approached, how many have submitted, or if he has committed more serious crimes. Our goal today is to educate, warn, and stop this activity before it becomes more aggravated."

In two separate cases, police say Nichols met his victims on the light-rail line between Long Beach and Los Angeles. Each of these women referred a roommate to Nichols.

All the women hoped to score a modeling job, according to detectives.

Each realized she had been duped when Nichols never returned phone calls.

"The lure of Hollywood and a big career in modeling blinded these girls from reality," Chow said. "That's what con-artists rely on."

Police say Keith Nichols worked as a security guard. He has lived in Compton, Hawthorne and South Los Angeles.

Lingerie knickers cut into US company profits

Honest shoppers might of headed to Walmart or Macy's in search of Black Friday deals, but bra bandits and thong thieves apparently prefer Victoria's Secret.

The lingerie chain has been targeted by professional panty pilferers from coast to coast who swipe thousands of dollars worth of underwear per trip, then unload it on the black market.

Last month, $1,400 worth of bras were stolen from the Victoria's Secret in the Granite Run Mall in Media, according to state police. In July, someone pocketed 32 bras, which sell for as much as $50 each.

Stores in other states have been hit even harder:

This month, four people stole more than $2,000 in undergarments from the MarketFair Mall Victoria's Secret near Princeton, N.J. Last year, nearly $29,000 of merchandise was stolen from two Florida stores, and a $10,000 panty raid - 650 pairs - was reported by a Washington state store.

A Victoria's Secret in Tennessee has been victimized several times in recent years, including a $4,000 underwear heist in 2007. This month, four women stole jackets, T-shirts and 30 pairs of pink panties from the same location - then pepper-sprayed a store employee who tried to stop them.

Read Hayes, director of the Florida-based Loss Prevention Research Council, which conducts theft-prevention research for major retailers, said that it's unlikely that the thieves are stealing pricey lingerie for the sheer thrill of it.

Most of them are probably professional shoplifters - who steal the merchandise to sell to other players in the organized retail-crime community. It then gets sold online or elsewhere, Hayes said.

Officials at Victoria's Secret's parent company, Limited Brands, did not respond yesterday to requests for comment. The company previously has declined to disclose the amount of merchandise it loses to theft, or to discuss its theft-prevention methods, other than to say that it works "aggressively" with police.

Last year, four people were arrested in Delaware County for stealing $2,200 worth of bras from the Granite Run Mall store.

An official from Victoria's Secret loss-prevention unit told state police at the time that the company suspected that the thieves might have been part of an interstate ring that cheated the chain of $600,000 to $1 million through theft and fraudulent transactions.

CROSS-DRESSING students at The University of Sheffield are to be allowed to join the women's committee - after the union passed a motion to treat 'self-defining women' as females.
The decision means membership of the women's committee will be open to all students who consider themselves to be female - even if they are transvestite males.

Amy Sutherland, the union women's officer, told The Star the change had been requested by the university's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Committee at the union's 'Trans Week' celebrations.

"The motion was proposed after we were asked to clarify our position towards transgender students," she said.

It is not known how many - if any - transgender or transvestite male students might want to join the women's committee.

"Those affected will be a very small minority of transgender students who can now sit on women's committee knowing they are formally welcome," Amy said.

"We do have a minority of transgender students and as a union it is our responsibility to support them.

"By passing this motion the women's committee is adhering to a national trend in the direction of transgender awareness.

"This only affects those students who were born biologically male but genuinely consider themselves to be psychologically women and live their lives on a day-to-day basis as women."

Amy said objections were heard from a "tiny proportion" of people who felt gender change is not an issue among students.

The vote will not allow men to stand for the union women's officer position, but Amy said in practice it was unlikely anyone would oppose a 'self-defining woman' from standing for the job.

However the university's women's minibus - a service that takes female students home safely after a night out on campus - would continue to be for women only.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans Committee rep Max Baker told the university's student paper: "In a practical sense, 'self-defining women' includes trans women as well as people who are born biologically female.

"The term exists to change the way people think about gender - that it is not necessarily based entirely on biological factors, and is a move away from that idea.

"We would say any person defining themselves as a woman is a self-defining woman, regardless of the biological status.

"Self-identification is something everyone does, not just trans women."

Thailand looks to limit sex change surgery

BANGKOK � Thailand has issued rules making sex change surgery more difficult � including a requirement that potential candidates cross-dress for a year � over fears that some patients are rushing into the operation, a medical association said Thursday.

Transsexuals and transgendered men are a common sight in Thailand, appearing on soap operas and working at all levels of Bangkok society, from department store cosmetics counters and popular restaurants to corporate offices and red-light districts. A national transgendered beauty pageant draws thousands to the beach side town of Pattaya every year.

But over the past two years, a rash of castrations, especially among young men, has alarmed the medical establishment and prompted the new rules.

Dr. Sampandh Komrit of the Medical Council of Thailand said the new rules went into effect Wednesday and require a person to wait a year after deciding on the surgery. The applicants must be over 18 and are required to dress in women�s clothing for the year before surgery. It also requires a mental evaluation before the surgery and continued follow-up visits with a psychiatrist after getting the sex change.

�This is a very important decision in their life,� Sampandh said. �After the operation, there is no way to fix it.�

Last year, Thailand�s Health Ministry ordered hospitals and medical clinics to temporarily stop performing non-medical castrations. The ministry said that the procedure needed stricter monitoring.

Sampandh said he understood the motivation for sex change surgery, adding that he has met many men who insist they would be happier being a woman. But he said the new regulations give them the opportunity to think through their decision.

�This is not a small thing, not like going shopping. Especially the teenagers, think carefully. Don�t do it because your friend did it,� Sampandh said.

Patients with a long history as cross-dressers would be exempt from the one-year waiting period, he said.

The winner was Japanese television host Haruna Ai, 37, who won the the "Miss International Queen 2009" the transvestite beauty pageant held in Pattaya, Thailand.

Haruna was among 18 contestants in the last round of the contest held Saturday night at Tiffany's Show which is billed the world's largest transsexual cabaret.
Haruna was awarded $10,000, a tiara and a trophy.

The first runner-up was Thai contestant Kangsadal Wongdusadeekul and the second runner-up was Brazilian Daniela Marques.

The Miss International Queen contest is aimed at the promotion of tolerance and positive attitude towards transsexuals and transvestites.

Millions in Thailand, a country well known for its tolerance and acceptance of transsexuals, watched the contest live on television on Saturday.

Johnny Ray Bibbins is charged with committing a robbery while disguised as a woman.

The gender-bending ruse worked about as well as the last time he tried it.

Once again, Bibbins, 35, finds himself locked up and probably wondering how his foolproof plan went awry. Crime can't possibly pay when you're this bad at it.

You may have heard that Bibbins was charged this week with knocking off the M&I Bank at 83rd St. and Silver Spring Drive. At the time, he was wearing a curly wig, red lipstick and other makeup.

I looked up his last felony case, from 2004, and, sure enough, Bibbins was dressed as a woman when a clerk became suspicious that he was about to rob the Family Dollar Store at 44th St. and Capitol Drive.

Police rushed to the scene and arrested Bibbins after it became clear he had robbed the same store two weeks earlier. He tried to convince the officers he was just a cross-dresser who carried a pellet gun for protection. He also gave a fake name, but his fingerprints cleared that up.

Upon conviction, it was off to prison with him. This was not a new experience for Bibbins. For yet another robbery case from 1992, he had spent six years in the slammer.

He went free in 1999 and returned to prison in late 2004 for the Family Dollar Store case. He was released in June of 2008 but incarcerated again in December for breaking his parole rules.

Finally, on Oct. 1 of this year, Bibbins was free and hopefully all rehabilitated. The M&I robbery happened just 12 days later.

Bibbins was raised in a stable adoptive home, court files say, and crime was not his only career option. He was certified as a nursing assistant and had held that job in the past. He also was trained in prison as a welder, though fewer things need to be welded in these recessionary times.

Bibbins confessed that he robbed the bank because, one, it was close to home, and, two, he wanted to help pay his girlfriend's bills.

He should have known how easy he'd be to catch. Police probably went to their robbery files and said, let's see, who do we have that's done this female disguise thing before? Plus, the bank surveillance camera snapped a pretty good photo of him as a her.

Bibbins talked a buddy into being his getaway driver. Bobby Ray McGhee had to wonder what he was getting himself into when he came over to Bibbins' house in the 6200 block of N. 84th St. and found him wearing the wig and preparing a fake bomb made from cans of peas and beans - obtained from a food pantry - taped together with wires and a piece of an old cell phone, the criminal complaint says. Bibbins said he got the idea from a TV crime show, so it's real comforting to know criminals are learning job skills that way.

McGhee is charged as a co-actor to the same 40-year felony as his longtime friend.

At the bank, Bibbins started with a miscue when he handed his robbery note to a receptionist. She had to direct him to a teller.

The note was punchy and ultimately polite: "Give me cash ASAP, no die paks, no alarm, no death. Thanks."

Leaving the suspicious canned goods behind, Bibbins ran from the bank with the loot and rode in the trunk of McGhee's fianc�e's Chevy Lumina over to McGhee's house where they split the proceeds, but not evenly. Drivers apparently don't get half.

Then McGhee drove Bibbins home. He again chose the trunk to avoid being spotted.

Mission accomplished. All that was left to do was wait for the cops to show up at the door.
