LONDON - A pair of Queen Victoria's panties or rather bloomers, with a 50-inch waist, were sold for £4,500 thats around $9,000 US at a central England auction Wednesday 30-July-2008.

Auctioneer Charles Hanson said Queen Victoria's underpants belonged to "a very big lady of quite small stature with a very wide girth." She was said to be 5 feet (1.52 meters) tall.
The handmade knickers — which date back to the 1890s — bear the monogram "VR" for Victoria Regina. They are open-crotch style, with separate legs joined by a drawstring at the waist, a popular style in the late Victorian era.
The royal drawers belonged to a family in western England whose ancestor was a lady-in-waiting for the queen.
"These pants, considering their provenance and pedigree, are very exciting," Hanson said. "They are monogrammed and crested and we know that they are hers."
Before the auction, Hanson valued the underwear at $1,000, a chemise and a nightgown also up for grabs were valued at $600 each.
Queen Victoria lived from 1819 to 1901. She became queen at age 18 and was the U.K.'s longest-reigning monarch. Her reign is noted for both imperial expansion and the decreasing political power of the monarch.
The auction in Mackworth, Derby exceeding all expectations, and the monarch's modest cotton drawers, attracted bids from as far afield as Brazil, Russia, Hong Kong and New York.
After intense bidding the bloomer were finally knocked down to a "lady of leisure" from Canada.
The chemise with an impressive 66-inch (168cm) bust was snapped up by a collector from London for £3,800 GBP her nightdress, measuring a mere 50 inches from shoulder to hem, sold for £5,200 GBP to an American collector. (IMG:http://www.micklebring.com/bml/images/victoria66brithday.jpg)

A 25-year old Onalaska man suspected of stealing women’s panties and a firearm was arrested on Thursday.

Chehalis police arrested Cory R. Anno, 25, an Onalaska male, Thursday on suspicion of first-degree burglary, residential burglary, unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.
Anno’s arrest is the culmination of a two-week investigation by Chehalis detectives involving numerous burglaries during which mainly women’s panties were primarily targeted.
The firearm and most of the stolen property have been recovered.
Anno has a previous conviction for stealing panties.
Detectives suspect there could be more victims.
Anyone with more information about the burglaries is encouraged to call the Chehalis Police Department at 748-8605.

A bald headed burglar has been caught on CCTV breaking into a sex shop, his mission to raid shelves and apparently try on the sexy clothes.
The unknown man throws a concrete block through the window of 'sexy superstore' Pulse & Cocktails in Skegness before darting behind the counter.
But instead of heading straight for the till, he pulls stockings and a pink wig from the shelves.
Then he rampages around the shop snatching some naughty knickers off the racks and two pink PVC nurses outfits.
Just to make certain the items will fit he then goes to the back of the shop with an armful of goods and pulls off his top - seemingly to try them on - before re-emerging and choosing another wig as the shop's alarm rings.
Still half-dressed, he makes for the shop window and grabs the shop mannikin which was dressed in a French maid's outfit with 'baby' pink fishnet stockings and pink knickers.
Then he drops the mannequin before choosing another wig.
And when he goes to flee, the dummy's legs drop off.

Shop manager 40-year-old Louise Whenman from Skegness described the incident as "unreal".
"He came in for an outfit, he didn't even attempt to touch the tills.
"If only he had come into the shop in the daytime, we could have shown him many more outfits and helped him find the right size."
She added: "He would have been devastated after his efforts, the outfit on the dummy was a small and he would have needed a large."
The mannequin was later found outside an optician's and was returned to the shop.
Louise added: "She's now dressed as a dominatrix in the bondage section."
CCTV of the burglar's escapades - in the early hours of June 27 - leaked on to the internet.
Police confirmed that they had carried out an investigation and appealed for information.
A spokesperson said: "We haven't managed to trace the man but the investigation is ongoing."
The suspect is described as well-built with a shaven head and wearing a black t-shirt with white writing.

Just a month after his release from prison, Tan Eng Lee appeared infront of the court again for filming a woman's upskirt panties.
The 40-year-old man was jailed for 10 weeks on Friday after pleading guilty to insulting the modesty of the 28-year-old shopper at Cold Storage at Parkway Parade shopping mall on June 14.
A magistrate's court heard that a staff of the supermarket witnessed him placing his right foot between her legs and under the skirt of the victim for several minutes.
Staff detained Tan, who had hidden the MP4 player with camera and video functions on top of his right shoe and held with shoe laces tied over it.
Tan admitted to having recorded a video footage of the victim's panties.
Tan was jailed for four weeks last month for a similar offence.
Pleading for a light sentence, he said he had wanted to turn over a new leaf after his release from prison but could not control himself.
He said he would seek medical treatment as soon as possible so that he could take care of his parents.
He could have been jailed for up to one year or fined or both. He used an MP4 player to commit the offence

Motorists along Interstate 291 had quite a sight/fright Saturday, as a man wearing nothing but a thong, fake breasts and a wig sauntered along the side of the highway.
Authorities received several calls which lead to police conducting a one hour search.
David Gebhardt, was arrested by police fully clothed after they found him collecting cans behind a business in Manchester. Police said they also found a wig and fake breasts in his car.
Forty-two-year-old Gebhardt is charged with disorderly conduct and simple trespass. He was released after posting $2,500 bail.
